How To Use Alight Motion Bend Effect

Overview

Discover how to use Alight Motion’s Bend effect to your video layers to create interesting warps and distortions. For modeling curved shapes and generating circular arcs, this effect is ideal.

Getting Started: To achieve the best results with the Bend effect, open Alight Motion and import a long, thin layer.

Fundamental Characteristics

  • Origin: Select the layer’s fixed side. During the bend, the side on the other will move.
  • Angle: Determine the side that is opposite the Origin’s new angle.
  • Start: Locate the layer’s bend’s starting point.

Prior to Launching Options:

  • Freeze: The section prior to Start is corrected.
  • Bend to Same Side: This makes the same bends as it did following Start.
  • Bend to Opposite Side: This action creates a “S” shape by bending in the opposite direction.
  • Complex Adjustment: Tune Head: Constrains the bend opposite the origin at the end.
  • Tune Tail: Controls the angle at the start.
  • Usage Advice: Set the Origin to the fixed side and modify the Angle for end-to-end bending.
  • Adjust Start to bend only a portion of the layer.
  • Set Start to a number other than 0% or 100% and modify Before Start for mid-layer bending.

Head and Tail Tuning:

To remove discontinuities brought on by severe Angle or Start values, adjust the Tune Head or Tune Tail.

Cases of Use

Animate elements that are elastic or springy (perfect for elastic easing). Model arcing forms, such as rainbows. Try out several combinations until you get the desired bending effect. Bend is a versatile tool that may be used in many different creative circumstances.
